Clinicians

The clinical interface is designed to log and record the patient as they move along their journey. Furthermore it automatically audits all treatment, implants and patient outcomes.

Patients

For the patient there is a patient passport and user interface that has all the information that is needed for dental implant treatment. This starts with treatment options, and pre-treatment questionnaires, progressing through consent, pre and post-operative information, finishing with how to look after implant retained restorations and quality of life assessment.

Why Implant Pro?

This resource is not only a valuable tool for clinicians and patients that are progressing through treatment, it also allows for long-term monitoring of implant health and quality of life.

The key benefits of the Resource Centre are:

  • Comprehensive – Everything that is needed for supporting dental implant treatment.
  • Patient-centred – There is very little for the clinic to do, the patient does almost everything via the patient passport.
  • Information – A patient information portal, which is supported by a wide-ranging bank of questionnaires. This ensures that not only is the patient fully informed, but the clinic has all the required information; from patient expectations and medical history, to quality of life status and dental history.
  • Consent – A thorough consent process that is unique to the proposed treatment. The completed consent is logged.
  • Audit/log – At the touch of button an immediate report of all treatments is generated. This includes materials, systems, and patient outcome parameters.
  • Patient Related Outcome Measures – The pre-treatment patient’s quality of life is recorded, and through newly developed software, this is monitored demonstrating the benefit of implant treatment for patients in the short and long-term
  • Long term maintenance – New research completed by the ICE Institute has demonstrated that patients can help with earlier diagnosis of peri-implant complications. This research has been incorporated into this resource centre allowing the clinics to have ‘an early warning’ of any possible problems.
  • Fully informed – The clinic is notified via email of the patient’s progress, as well as of any long-term maintenance issues.
  • Marketing – The audit results, the benefits that treatment has to patients, and the application of this package is a vital marketing tool.
  • Patient Safety and Effectiveness of Treatment – Constant audit of treatment and materials allows for robust protocols that highlights underperformance.
  • Ease of use – Designed to be used on all devices, by all patients and clinical staff.
  • User definable – Each user may define questionnaires, information, and materials, as well as the addition of practice logos and marketing.
  • Secure – All information is security encoded, and only the user has access to their information.

The Patient Interface

The patient portal allows easy and constant access to information and treatment plans. The patient is kept fully informed as to their progress via time line that is always on display.

Pre-operative questionnaires allow the patient to record and relay vital information to the clinic prior to embarking on the treatment process. Constant interaction with the portal allows a fully informed smooth patient journey.

The exclusive mouth map permits treatment plans to be easily inputted and ensures a full understanding of the proposed treatment by the patient.

Post-operative quality of life and satisfaction assessments are undertaken. These are analysed to assess the success of treatment. Finally the patients are monitored for the long-term to assess how the treatment is progressing over time, not only in terms of oral quality of life, but in terms of monitoring complications.

The Clinical Interface

Legislation

It is a requirement set by the General Dental Council ‘Training Standards in Implant Dentistry 2012’ that all clinics audit the outcome of dental implant treatment. This is time consuming, and often difficult to do in a structured manner that allows deficient protocols and materials to be highlighted.

Legislation is already in place for many medical disciplines, ensuring that a measure of success is based on patient satisfaction and patient related outcome measures (PROMs). Forthcoming legislation from Europe will require success in dental implants to be measured in the same way. To date there is no other method to do this in a controlled defined way other than this resource centre.

Quality of Care

The aims of the DIR framework is to record and demonstrate the benefits of dental implant treatment, to raise standards, ensure patient safety and make implementing the legislation as easy as possible for the clinic.

The framework is based on 4 domains:

  • Improvement in Quality of Oral health in (implant/dental) patients.
  • Establish the on-going effectiveness of dental (implant) treatment.
  • Identify complications and encouraging timely intervention & remedial treatment.
  • Help patients and the clinic to have positive experiences during dental (implant) treatment.

Application

Everything that the patient needs is available via the patient portal, the patient enters all the data. The clinic may also add the required information if they wish.

A traffic light red, amber, and green system is observed indicating the dental health of all patients. This allows the clinic to see the status of treatment outcomes at a glance.

Audits are definable and can be implemented at the patient, clinician or clinic level. This will allow the clinic to demonstrate:

  • Effectiveness and improvement in oral health and Quality of Life.
  • Positive patient experiences.
  • Long lasting and safe solutions.
  • Timely recognition, prevention and treatment of complications in both the short and long-term.

The ongoing long-term assessment of the patient by the framework allows early notification of complications, thus giving the clinic piece of mind, and the patient a point of continual access.

How it Works

There are two methods of data input:

  • Patient Centred Interface: The patient is given a paper passport, this is completed by the clinic and the patient enters the information via the patient portal.
  • Clinic Centred Interface: The patient simply works through the patient portal at their leisure. The clinical information is entered by the clinic.

The resource centre automatically contacts the patient at definable points through the treatment and maintenance phases to assess PROM and dental implant health. The clinic is notified of any complications.
